See More... Oh please, if you watch American Idol, or are a contestant, or are a judge-slash-host, you're basically Gay. But in a good way. So there, gay haters.

As tens of millions of "American Idol" fans tune in to watch Adam Lambert and Kris Allen face off Tuesday evening in the program's final round of competition, at 8 on Fox, the overhyped media question of the moment is whether the country is ready to hand the crown to an androgynous, seemingly gay 27-year-old fireball from San Diego. Or will his sexual ambiguity ("I know who I am," Mr. Lambert has replied to questions about his orientation) be an impediment? If Mr. Lambert eventually comes out, the way has been paved by the former contestant Clay Aiken, whose career hasn't suffered for it. - from NYTimes

Now comes the real blockbuster election - one that will hinge just as much on complex demographic, technological and geographic factors as last year's epic presidential battle. We are talking, of course, about "American Idol," the season finale of which will begin Tuesday night and end Wednesday night with the crowning of a new Idol. Theories abound over who has the inside edge - the neo-glam, San Diego-bred Adam Lambert, 27, or the younger, more down-home Kris Allen, 23, of Conway, Ark. - from NYDailyNews

"Who cares, for God's sake!" So You Think You Can Dance judge Mary Murphy exasperated to us the BAFTA/L.A. Comedy Festival. "It shouldn't matter. They're there to sing, dance, whatever it is. That drives me nuts." - from E!

When photographs of Lambert, 27, kissing a man overran the Internet in March, Lambert brushed off the incident with a smile and a new motto: "I know who I am." Several gay contestants have been on the program, but none has made it so far while being this nonchalant about his sexuality. "In terms of the sexuality question, that's up to him to say, but he's obviously not conventionally masculine in how he dresses and how he talks, and there's no sense that he's ever tried to hide it," said Ross. "He's totally matter of fact — and that is really startling to see on mainstream TV. It seems almost heroic to me." - from LAtimes
