After Paula Abdul tweeted to the world that she was departing American Idol , Fox seemed to rejoice, wasting no time in accepting her resignation.
However, Adam Lambert told Rolling Stone that a show that puts so much pressure on contestants needs Paula:
"She made me feel safe and loved. It's hard when you're facing intense criticism from some of the more harsh judges on the show and you have millions of people behind the camera watching you, it's nice to have a presence in the room that will root for you and smile. And not only after the performances, but during the performance, she stands up, she claps, she smiles at you – it s like a safety net."
Adam added that he was certain Paula would miss interacting with the contestants and discovering new talent, which was her favorite part of the show. "She's so supportive, she knows what it's like to be a performer," he said.
Fox has not named a replacement for Paula yet, although Katy Perry and Posh Spice have been guest judges at early auditions for season 9.
Adam has been nominated for three Teen Choice Awards, but according to RockStarWeekly.com, it doesn't look like he will make it to the taping of the ceremony today. The show airs at 8 p.m. tomorrow night on Fox (check local listings).
The reason Adam, nor any of the other Idol finalists, is likely to appear is because they are performing in the Idol Summer Tour in New Jersey today, and the ceremony is being taped in LA.
It is possible that Adam and the other Idols might appear via sattelite.
As of press time, none of the Idols were among the red carpet arrivals at the ceremony.
Adam has said in the past that he wanted to work with Lady Gaga, and now it looks like his wish is coming true. In an interview with Reuters about her future in the music industry, Gaga said, "We're talking to Adam Lambert right now."
When you think about it, Adam would raise Gaga's game. She's a pro at working the gossip pages and is known more for her outlandish outfits andsongwriting than her singing. I'd like to see Adam and Gaga do a really over-the-top rock opera.
What should their collaborative name be? Agaga? Gadam? Gagadam?
Adam's now-legendary AI performance of "Mad World" is featured in an ad for a new ABC show called Flash Forward, reports West Palm Beach Television Examiner Romina Massa.
The show, created by David S. Goyer (Batman Begins, The Dark Knight), begins with something ("the event") causing everyone in the world to black out at the same time for exactly 2 minutes and 17 seconds. During the blackout, everyone sees their lives six months from now.
The show takes place in Los Angeles and centers on main characters Joseph Fiennes (Shakespeare in Love) and John Cho (Harold and Kumar) who are police partners. They are on a car chase in the pilot when "the event" happens.
Check out the promo (Adam doesn't sing until the end):

Together, we can change the world, one mind at a time.
Have a great day,
