my opinions pretty much mesh with yours.  I don't know why I even watch the show, but I've been watching it since season one and it's hard to break the habit.  I won't be seeing it the rest of this season.  On vacation, driving, visiting etc.  Right now I'm in Vegas visiting my son and his family, too many other things to do besides watch Idol.   Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet.
